We are always so proud of the amazing work our artists in residence do during their three months in their free studio space at @jasperstudios_. We recently visited with one of our artists in residence, Morgan Nitz (@sonofm.a.n). She gave us a tour of her space, and we had a chance to chat with her about her process and what inspires her! I was really inspired by how she used collaged drawings from her studies in Italy to create the concepts behind these paintings. I especially loved some of her large format work. Now accepting applications to our artist residency program! Artists will receive a work studio space plus utilities in the up and coming neighborhood of Kensington in Philadelphia, PA in our newly renovated building Jasper Studios. The building has been restored and carefully renovated into 50 artist studios/business offices. The studios that will be provided for the residency will be between 300-500 sq. ft. with high ceilings and two large windows that provide plenty of natural light. The chosen artist will have 24 hour access to their studio and amenities, INCLUDING 2 kitchenettes, wifi & high speed internet, secure car/bike lot, elevator access, and a coffee shop. Jasper Studios is conveniently located a short 5 min walk to the Market-Frankford line which makes all neighborhoods of Philadelphia highly accessible. At the end of the three months, Artists are required to participate in a Creative Happy Hour where they will exhibit the body of work they created to a group of their peers.
